Dinner
May 30th, 2004

Dinner was good tonight. There was fresh wild Copper River salmon at the store today, so I made salmon with a Mustard Honey Ginger glaze. You know I've never really been a salmon person, but with the combination of a really good piece of fish and a good recipe I really do enjoy it.

We had garlic roasted baby red potatoes (e or no e? Darn Quayle), salad, and a tropical fruit salad with plain yogurt topping. I got a really good pineapple at the produce market yesterday and made a fruit salad with it, some watermelon, and two mangoes. A squeeze of key lime and it was tasty.

Percent of nutritious and yummy dinner eaten by Jay: .056% (a bite of potatoes after suitable amounts of butter and salt were smushed into them)

Sometimes I wonder why I bother. But then again, Jim the boy who managed to grow up in Hawaii without ever eating fish, ate a bite of the salmon and said in a surprised voice, "Hey, this is good!" Thanks for the vote of confidence honey, but yes it is good.

Yummy, fellow foodies.
Does Kymm go the store every day?

Jay and Priya must be on the same food page. We went out to brunch today, and went to a chain pancake house because when we were in CA for the reunion, Priya loved the pancakes at IHOP. Today, never heard of pancakes. Percentage of food eaten -- .056%. Identity of food eaten--whipped cream dipped in catsup. Priya's combinations of food plus catsup sometimes make Kevin lose his appetite (banana and catsup, anyone). But not me. Breastfeeding makes me hungry all the time. Post more recipes! Especially easy ones.

FINALLY, a place to share my favorite recipes!

MICHAEL's SPEEDY AND SUCCULENT LUNCHTIME TREAT:

1) Meander to McDonalds. Sauntering an acceptable substitute.

2) Go to Solange or Mario's register. Coco always forgets the barbecue sauce, and Hector is likely to spill fries all over the bottom of the bag. Hate that.

3) Order #5. Size to taste.

4) Don't forget to grab 10-12 little packets of salt on the way out. Napkins optional. Straw essential.

5) Return to office building; bypass fourth floor (where office is), proceed to eighth (where smoking lounge is).

6)Consume carcinogenic food while breathing carcinogenic air, to maximize breaktime efficiency.

7) Repeat. Daily.

8) Make note: buy new arteries.

For dining at home, I'm working on this thing where I fry up two pieces of bread with melted cheese in the middle. Haven't got it quite right yet. I'll keep you posted.
